Pastor's Perspective
Leadership for the Next Level
I have studied and participated in leadership for the past 42 years and I am aware that God is intensely interested in the internal development of the leader more than the visible results of that leadership. The leader who longs to get to the next level must realize that Jesus always aims at the inner life first; and the public life is second. Jesus demonstrated this when He privately defeated satan before defeating him publically.
“When I Need A Miracle—Where Do I Start?
Then Jesus said to His disciples, “Have faith in God. I assure you that you can say to this mountain, ‘May God lift you up and throw you into the sea,’ and your command will be obeyed. All that is required is that you really believe and do not doubt in your heart.” - Mark 11:22-23
What does it mean to have “unclean lips?”
“Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of Hosts.” – Isa. 6:5
This is an extraordinary moment when Isaiah saw the Lord. He was a man of great virtue and considered by his contemporaries as a model of righteousness. In a single moment, all of this was shattered as he was totally exposed to God’s glaring light of perfect holiness. Up to this point, he was able to compare himself with others, but in a holy instant he was measured by the ultimate standard.
A Commitment to the Word as God’s Rule for Faith and Life
I am a strong advocate for proper biblical doctrine and the correct interpretation of the Bible. Lately, I have been feeling that people like me who believe this way are becoming somewhat in the minority. An article in a recent USA Today titled, “Who Gets Saved? Opinions Broadened,” got my immediate attention.
